Easter

Come to Midwest Mission and pick up a sack of empty Easter eggs! Take them home and fill them with small individual wrapped candy or a small toy and bring them back. We need your help!

Easter Baskets being made for over 2,000 kindergarten through 3rd grade students in Springfield 186.

These Easter baskets will be passed out through parent educators at the Springfield 186 schools if we get enough supplies we hope to also give to the preschool students in Heat Start in Springfield. The baskets supplies were donated by Walmart to Toys for Tots. They went from Toys for Tots to Midwest Mission Distribution Center to get sorted and prepped. Easter Eggs have been picked up by Midwest Mission volunteers and others in the community this past week filled with candy and toys. 

Scout Troop 13 and 1300 out of Springfield First United Methodist will be donating candy and stuffing eggs on Sunday, March 7th . Sugar Creek United Methodist Church lent their space to spread out the Easter stuff for sorting. Springfield First Methodist Church will be making 300 baskets with their congregation from 10 am -12pm on Sunday, March 7th.

University of Illinois Springfield College Students will pack the remainder of the 2,000 baskets up on March 9, 10, 11 in the Student Union from 12-3PM. 

Baskets will be given to students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program at Springfield 186 schools from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Target donated $100 toward candy but we needed a lot of candy to fill 12,000 eggs. Each basket is filled with grass, a toy, 6 eggs and a large candy treat. The baskets are placed in trash bags so families can receive and take home in secret. 

The One-Stop Collaboration works to empower parents to bring joy to their children. We want the gifts to come from them. Also every young person needs a little magic in their life, keeping the magic of the Easter bunny going is also an important to help our families.
